The short answer is yes, you can! Learning Reiki can be broken down into five basic elements, which include:

  1. The principles of Reiki
  2. Reiki meditation
  3. Healing yourself and others hands-on
  4. Distant Reiki healing
  5. Carrying out and attunement for another person

While it’s true that Reiki is a powerful method of spiritual empowerment and growth, it’s also the simplest. If children can perform Reiki without having had instruction, then you can expect to learn by reading, asking questions and practising on your own.

Like many other skills that can be learnt online, learning Reiki online has its unique benefits, including:

  • You won’t have to rush to catch the opening time of a Reiki session at the designated venue.
  • You won’t have to cut your session short because the venue would be closing soon.
  • You’ll feel more comfortable in your own home and within your own space.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to redo classes, which can help you understand better what was said during a physical class.
  • You’ll have more time to get through the classes and really understand them.

There are many online Reiki courses UK you can benefit from and you can bet they wouldn’t be so successful it they weren’t working. Just like you wouldn’t need to be in a physical baking class to learn how to turn the batter, you don’t have to be in the same physical space as a Reiki practitioner to learn the hand positions. You can learn all you need to from diagrams.

Arguments for learning Reiki in person

Whether you choose to learn Reiki in person or online or even combine both, it doesn’t matter. However, it helps to know why some people would rather learn in person, so you can make an informed decision about the best route for you.

  • Working with a Reiki instructor in person allows for more immediacy since you can get instant feedback as you work with energy, based on what they are sensing, hearing and seeing.
  • You can get instant feedback from other students, which allows you to feel what it’s like working with energy from different people.
  • In-person Reiki classes can be personalised based on your needs as an individual, considering that people learn in different ways.

Generally, advanced students tend to fare better with online Reiki courses since they already have the basics, but don’t let that stop you from trying Reiki as a beginner.
